Our first Sports day in our new grounds at Old Conna took place on Friday May 4th in glorious sunshine. . The day was a great success with many great examples of individual and team performance. There was a great spirit and engagement throughout the day as students competed in various competitions, including our new long jump facility.
The weather complemented a great day for JSS and the students looked great dressed head to toe in their specific house colours. The day started with Junior athletics and Senior Soccer and then switched in the afternoon. Every student was encouraged to participate as much as possible in order to gain points for their house. From the first event to the last the hunger and fight for house points was very evident. It was an emotional day for our sixth years participating in their last ever sports day and there was a sense of anticipation and excitement from our first years, participating in their first ever secondary school sports day.
The day was rounded off by the awards presentation. Events like this, simply wouldn’t take place without the continued organisation, cooperation and kindness of a very pro-active staff room. Therefore a special mention must go to all the staff of John Scottus that helped contribute and facilitate such a successful and memorable day. Thank you.
Mr. Pender, Ms. Sweeney.
