On Wednesday the 11th of May the John Scottus Junior Boys soccer team took on St. Conleith’s Secondary School in a friendly match in Herbert park. The game proved to be a very close contest with the first half in particular being a very cagey affair. Jack Bruton opened the scoring with a fine finish from close range however Conleth’s leveled matters just before half time.
The second half proved to be far more open. The John Scottus boys pushed on and got three goals through Jack Bruton. However Conleith’s came back strong in the remaining minutes scoring two goals of their own and pressed hard for a fourth but the boys held out for a very good 4-3 win.
On Wednesday the 25th of May the Junior Boys Soccer team were in action once more. This time 1st and 2nd year seven aside teams departed John Scottus to take on two teams from Stratford College in UCD. Two more great performances saw the 1st year team come through a very competitive game with an 9-4 win and the 2nd year team emerge 16-8 winners against their Stratford counterparts.
