During Seachtain na Gaeilge the school community was engaged in several fun activities. Without doubt, the highlight of the week was the Thursday morning assembly. Here we had an Irish dancing display from Sophie Madden. First year boys and girls sang the lovely ‘Sé mo Laoch’. There were musical contributions from Mr. Flynn who led all in a rock ‘n roll rendition of ‘Trasna na dTonnta’ and Mr. Telford who played some Irish dance music on violin.
Other events of Seachtain na Gaeilge included a treasure hunt style Tráth na gCeist, where students had to find an answer (as Gaeilge of course!) with various questions placed throughout the school. Quizzes were also held in the various Irish classes. We extended Seachtain na Gaeilge to the end of term and it concluded with the traditional John Scottus Céilí!
