The School views Physical Education as an important aspect of the education of Boys and Girls. In the Secondary School, the timetable provides for two double-period Sports classes for all students each week.
The School’s main sports are Hockey for Girls, and Hockey and Soccer for Boys. The School fields teams at all levels in Hockey leagues, as well as playing many ‘friendlies’. In Soccer, some age groups have a league, others have friendlies.
5th and 6th class boys also play Gaelic Football and the school enters the U13 inter-schools competitions.
Training takes place largely during normal school hours, but Girls play matches on Saturday mornings.
Astro-turf pitches are used both for practices and for matches in three venues: Pembroke Wanderers, Railway Union and UCD. The School itself has an artificial grass area, fully netted, at the rear of the premises for smaller training sessions.
An Athletics Club has begun in September 2009. Read more....
